According to recent statistics, the United States has over 45 million people that use electronic cigarettes. With over $3 billion dollars in sales, it seems to be a popular concept that many are trying.

According to a detailed study of 1000 electronic cigarette smokers, many suggested they had increased their lung capacity after making the switch from traditional to e-cigs. Three fourths of the people surveyed claimed that they are able to handle strenuous tasks, including exercise, much better.

- 98% of all participants claimed their tobacco usage decreased after taking up electronic smoking.
- 77% claim to only vape as opposed to smoking a traditional analog cigarette.
- 63.9% say their smoker’s cough has decreased significantly since making the switch.
- 70% believe their lung capacity increased.
- 66% noticed a significant improvement in performing daily tasks.
Scientist Dr Konstantinos Fasalinos believes that this study has shown encouraging data regarding respiratory function. When we exercise, we all know how important it is to be able to catch your breath.
Why does traditional smoking make exercising more difficult?
It has been proven that one of the main reasons for difficulty in breathing is that tobacco destroys the air sacs, also known as alveoli, in your lungs. The alveoli are supposed to stretch to help with oxygen flow and when you smoke, they do not stretch properly and can cause difficulty in breathing.
