What You Need to Know About Charging

Eversmoke-Charger-TipsCharging batteries. Sounds pretty self-explanatory and simple, right? Insert charger into device, plug it into an outlet, and let it charge is the basic how-to, is it not? Well, in actuality, yes, however it can get a bit more complicated than that.

Here are the basics about charging e-cig batteries, because there is some additional info you may or may not know about, and it will serve you to have an awareness of it.

Use Only the Charger Your E-Cigarette Battery is Meant For.

In other words, do not swap products and chargers, or use any charger not specified specifically for your device. Even if similar items may seem to fit perfectly, they most likely will not charge at the proper levels, with the proper voltage, etc. In fact, using random chargers can result in damage, or worse.

Overnight Charging is a No-No.

Charging should be up to 100% and then promptly discontinued to ensure the e-cigarette battery life. Leaving a battery on the charger extensively after reaching full capacity can wear it down, making it less effective, can cause technical problems, and/ or reduce overall battery life.

Keep Away From Children and Pets

Like e-liquids, your devices and chargers should be kept out the reach of children and pets at all times. Their safety should be your primary concern, and this is not something you should get too comfortable with. Storing your devices and chargers at a level children and/ or pets will not be able to access is your best bet.

Modify at Your Own Risk, And This Includes Chargers

MODS are mods, and not all e-cig devices and items are meant to be modified with DIY type efforts. Do not use your charger in any way that it is not designated to be used in; it could result in injury as you may be messing with electricity. If you are looking to use MODS, please use only products designed for this kind of use. Standard EverSmoke e-cigarettes, and all of their additional accessories and parts should never be used in such ways.

4 E- Cig Exaggerations that Keep People Smoking

You all are probably well aware of the controversy that surrounds electronic cigarettes.  Anything that is relatively new and takes away from the tobacco industry is obviously going to be attacked from all ends.  As a result, there are many myths and exaggerations that float around regarding the e-cig health and safety.

Below are four common vaping embellishments that you may hear from people who are traditional smokers.

1. Electronic cigarettes are a fire hazard.

E-cigs do contain a heating element, but unlike cigarettes, there is no combustion process or open flame. Cigarette users are much more likely to start a fire through user careless.  With an e-cig, as long as you buy products that are high quality and act responsibly with the batteries and e-liquid, you shouldn’t have a problem.

2. Electronic cigarettes contain antifreeze.

This may be one of the biggest e-cig exaggerations floating around.  Let’s hope that any company that is reputable in any way would not put anti-freeze in their products.  Propylene glycol, which is used in the liquid of e-cigs, is often found in medications and various foods.  Ethylene glycol is what is found in anti-freeze.  Big difference!

3. Vaping is more addictive than smoking.

This is simply not true.  Both contain nicotine, but with the e-cig you can reduce your nicotine levels at any time.  The vaping hobby may be more addictive in pleasure and flavor, but not due to nicotine. You can have cartridges ranging from 0 milligrams (mg) of nicotine to 18 mg.  It is completely your choice.

4. Vapor from e-cigs is same as smoke from traditional cigarettes.

Wrong!  Cigarette smoke releases carcinogens into the air with every puff.  When a person vapes, the cloudlike fog they release is actually odorless water vapor.

Don’t listen to the exaggerations, myths and lies out there circulating about electronic cigarettes.  If you have questions, EverSmoke is here to provide answers.  Our vaping products are an excellent alternative to traditional smoking with a variety of e-liquid flavors and starter kits that can help you begin the new journey of vaping.

E-Cigarettes Banned in National Parks

National Parks Ban Electronic CigarettesThe great outdoors. Nature’s way of telling us to slow down, relax and immerse ourselves within its surroundings. Our nation’s National Parks are the perfect venue for a good time away from the concrete chaos, and it never hurts to have a little motivation in the chillax department with a good vape in hand. Yet the aforementioned is all fine and well, so long as the vape stays out of site – as in off-site.

As of now, the National Park Service has issued a ban on all electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS), better known as e-cigs and vaporizers, within the U.S. National Parks system.

Put into action immediately, National Park Service Director Jonathan B. Jarvis released a statement citing the health of visitors and employees as the goal behind this regulation. This law echoes the National Park’s stance on traditional cigarettes, which have been entirely banned from use on all National Park property.  This extends to all government facilities, concessions, and vehicles. As noble of a regulation it may appear to be, it is misleading for a government agency to institute a law based on comparison to an entirely separate product, which is used in an entirely different manner.

What the National Parks Service fails to recognize is that the vapor emitted from ENDS, or electronic nicotine delivery systems, is an entirely separate, entirely different substance. It is not in any way, nor can it be classified in any way, as smoke. No tobacco is contained in these products, no tobacco is lit with fire, burned, or emitted in any way. If the aim was to legitimately protect guests and employees from smoke, (which is obviously proven to be dangerous) the measure should have been tailored to restrict smoke. Vapor, on the other has not, and it is an absolutely misrepresentation to classify it the same. Doing so removes options for visitors who choose not to smoke, yet still wish to enjoy an alternative product.

The bottom line here is that while e-cigarette regulations are necessary, particularly regarding  e-cig regulations and public usage, it is a sad day when government entities create regulations that are based on erroneous assumptions, and leave users without options. Perhaps this is an instance that will get modified in the future. Until then, however, vapers will have to enjoy the National Parks vapor-less.

Popular UK E-Cig Site Introducing Research and Resource List to Keep Public Informed

info dice

One of the biggest e-cigarette blogs in the United Kingdom, www.Ecigclick.co.uk, is debuting a new section of their website dedicated to international e-cigarette legislation. This resource will not only ensure that all known e-cig laws are located in one place on the web, but also help people traveling around the world know where they can and cannot use their e-cigarettes. The site strives to provide information not only to vapers (their obvious target audience), but to non-vapers as well.

Ecigclick.co.uk gathers information from respectable sources—such as the British Medical Journal, Health Policy Research Centers around the world and other reputable news sources—and posts them on the site’s Research and Resource List in order to keep their readers informed and engaged.

The caliber of information now being posted by Ecigclick.co.uk will not only be able to inform the public in general, but it can also be helpful to researchers, academics and journalists who are interested in the world of e-cigarettes.

Those who want additional resources or need to ensure the credibility of a given resource are even encouraged to contact the Research and Resource List’s editor, who vows to work to trace the source and then relay this information back to the public as a whole.

The owner of Ecigclick.co.uk, Jon Williams, feels that the sheer amount of information floating around the web about e-cigarettes can be both confusing and potentially harmful. This is because in one minute e-cigs are being praised as being an alternative for smoking tobacco cigarettes and the next minute they are being criticized as just another way to get people addicted to smoking. (We certainly know the truth but that doesn’t mean much to science, where objectivity reigns supreme.)

“By making available the latest public research on the subject we can try to clear up some of the confusion for people and, at the same time, encourage them to inform themselves and make their own minds up,” Williams said.

Making the decision to switch from tobacco cigarettes to e-cigarettes can be a difficult decision. With tools like Ecigclick.co.uk and learning resources from reputable e-cigarette vendors like EverSmoke, your choice can be much more informed.

FDA Requests Public Opinion About E-liquid Packaging

regulations concept

One of the biggest issues driving the debate about e-cigarettes is minors being able to access the products. One aspect of this debate is young children accidently ingest e-liquid. That is one of the big reasons why it’s so important to store your e-cig supplies properly.

This June, the FDA released new rules regarding how it plans to regulate e-liquid labeling, child-proofing and packaging. They’re calling it an advance notice of proposed rulemaking. Currently, this is just an open dialogue with public of what the FDA is considering and the release of this document is intended to generate comments from the public.

In the document, which is broken into sections, the FDA shows that they remain curious about how the public feels regarding the treatment and sales of e-liquid, as well as how other tobacco-like products are marketed.

Specifically, the FDA wants public opinion and additional information about:

  • The warnings that should be included on e-liquid containers (specifically the level of detail they should go into);
  • Any dangers of e-liquid they should specify (This could be anything from keeping e-liquid out of the reach of kids and pets to nicotine-related dangers.); and
  • Data and research results pertaining to nicotine exposure warnings and child-resistant backpacking on existing products.

This latest release gives no indication of the plan that the FDA has for e-cigarette product label regulation. Proposals so far have included making uniform flavor names or even colors of the liquids themselves. Some say that this information would be helpful since there is still much concern and controversy present in the vaping industry—namely over using recognizable images on e-liquid bottles.

The thoroughness of this document shows that the FDA is growing ever closer to finalizing their plans for regulating e-cigarettes and e-cigarette accessories. Expect, when the regulations do come out, that they require warnings about nicotine (like those found on tobacco cigarettes) and bottles that are childproof.

In reality, none of the items up for regulation discussions are groundbreaking or detrimental to leading vaping companies like EverSmoke. When the time for regulation finally comes, we’ll make all the necessary updates and keep selling you high performing e-cigarettes with delicious e-liquid.

To keep abreast on any changes made to these plans, check back with EverSmoke’s blog and knowledge center.

Heat & E-Cig Batteries: Not a Great Combo

e-cigarette batteries & heatE-cigarette batteries, like all lithium ion batteries, are not designed to handle extremes; whether it’s weather or humidity, they really don’t tolerate dramatically high or drastically cold temperatures well. So, if you find yourself living in areas where temperatures are known to hit extremes; hot or cold, with the possibility of severe humidity, (you know, basically anywhere that does not include perfectly moderate, dry conditions) the following info will surely be to your benefit.

Heat is particularly detrimental to the lithium ion batteries of electronic cigarettes. Some of the common issues known to arise from exposure to extreme heat include sudden halts in performance, the device failing to work, damage to the device, melting, bubbles, bulging, warping, expansion, contracting, the presence of smoke (not vapor!), sparks, flames, and even the possibility of explosions in the most rare and isolated incidents!

One thing to keep in mind about temperatures and your e-cigarettes is that extremes in temps can happen anywhere, and at any time. It is not a strictly a situation you’re going to run into exclusively by leaving your device in your car, parked in the sun, with all windows rolled up. Obviously, that’s a recipe built for disaster, but consider your back porch, an enclosed bathroom with the shower running, a sauna, your pocket if you’re outdoors on a hot, sweaty day; these can be everyday situations depending on your location, so in terms of the long-term usage of your e-cigarette batteries, consider it part of the package to keep the effects of the temperatures in consideration. Room temp is best, if you’re ever unsure!

The bottom line with e-cigarette batteries is that if you treat them properly, maintain a good regimen of care, they will last an exceptionally long time and will perform completely up to the standards you expect. However, considering all lithium ion batteries, e-cigarette or otherwise, are sensitive to temperature extremes, do your very best to keep them in moderation. Consider your e-cigarettes an investment; make your money go as far as you can.

New British Study Says E-Cigs Control Smoking Risks

woman holding classic cigarette and electronic cigarette
A recently released government-funded study in the U.K. found that electronic cigarettes can help reduce the risks of smoking by as much as 95 percent.  British health officials are saying that the study – issued by Public Health England – showed little indication that people who had never smoked before were embracing electronic cigarettes on a large level as many anti-vaping advocates and officials have implied.

The findings in the report do not show that electronic cigarettes are completely free risks.  However, the report is believed to possibly speed up the use and acceptance of e-cigs in England.  It may also affect a debate in the United States regarding whether or not e-cigs are an aid in helping people quit smoking or if they are just another access to nicotine.

Duncan Selbie, the Chief Executive of Public Health England, says that one of the main reasons for the study was to help clear some of the smoke surrounding the e-cigarette debate.  He states, “Many people think the risks of e-cigarettes are the same as smoking tobacco and this report clarifies the truth of this. In a nutshell, best estimates show that e-cigarettes are 95 percent less harmful to your health.”

A professor at the University of California, Dr. Neal L. Benowitz, said that his counterparts in Britain had been more optimistic about electronic cigarettes than his colleagues in the United States.  He believes though that there is still lack of evidence showing how these devices can be best used to help traditional smokers kick the habit.

The report did encourage officials to consider how e-cigs can help be a low cost alternative for people in low income communities to transition away from the expensive smoking habit that is so prevalent in these areas.

Have you seriously considered an alternative to smoking?  Electronic cigarettes can offer you a more satisfying and better smoking experience than traditional analog cigarettes. CDC Releases New Lower Numbers on the Percentage of U.S. Smokers

man in sunglasses smoking
Newly released numbers on the rate of smoking in the United States have been released and many are surprised to find that smoking amongst American adults continues to drop. Currently, only around 15% of adults now say they smoke traditional tobacco cigarettes.

This number is 2% lower than last year and 3% lower than 2013—which is significant considering the U.S. spent a decade trying to curb smoking rates with no success before ramping up its anti-smoking campaign in 2010, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The CDC is contributing the decline to higher taxes on tobacco products, tougher laws against smoking and more stringent anti-smoking campaigns. Director of the CDC’s North Shore-LIJ Health System in New York, Patricia Folan says there have even been instances of long-term heavy smokers quitting in recent years due to bans on indoor smoking.

According to Folan, she hears smokers all the time saying, “When I can’t smoke here, I can’t smoke there, when people see me smoke they look at me like I’m a pariah – it makes me want to not smoke anymore.”

All of these numbers come from the annual National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) which is performed by the CDC. The NHIS began as a way to track health issues in the American public in 1957.

Decreased Smoking Data

Just how much has the smoking rate decreased in recent years? Here are some stats to give you a better picture:

  • Since 1965, the rate of adults smoking has decreased 27%.
  • From 2004-2009, smoking rates didn’t decline and stayed at roughly 20%. Failure to see progress made anti-smoking proponents concerned that this hard-core smoking group could not be reached.
  • 17 percent of males smoke compared to 13 percent of women.
  • The real difference for getting numbers to start dropping again was graphic anti-smoking ads. (Smokers don’t enjoy seeing graphic images of what smoking could do to their bodies.)

According to the director of the American Lung Association’s national policy, Thomas Carr, U.S. smoking rates could drop even further with the pending regulation of other nicotine delivery devices such as smokeless e-cigarettes. Carr states, however, that much more research will have to be conducted first to know just how much of a role these devices could play on the reduction of smoking rates.

If you’re a smoker and no longer enjoy the smoke, ash and chemicals that come along with tobacco cigarettes, consider switching to a smarter smoking alterative. Scientists Find Link between Smoking and Schizophrenia

A psychiatrist working at St. Patrick’s University Hospital, a mental facility in Dublin, Ireland has noticed a correlation between patients he’s treating for mental illness and heavy smoking. The Irish government hopes to lower their country’s smoking rate to 5% by 2025, so finding that smoking is linked to changes to brain chemistry is one piece of evidence on their side.

The doctors at St. Patrick’s generally assumed that these patients smoked in order to cope with their mental illnesses. This correlation led hospital officials to permit mental patients to smoke outdoors on hospital grounds, a ruling that made them an exemption to the 2004 workplace-smoking ban.

However, there have been developments that indicate schizophrenia (and other disorders) could actually be caused (in part) by prolonged tobacco use.

King’s College London analyzed data from 61 smoking studies (comprised of 288,000 individuals) and discovered that over half (57 percent) of those newly diagnosed with schizophrenia smoked cigarettes. Additionally, those living with schizophrenia are known to smoke more frequently than others do and they tend to inhale deeper. Analysis also showed that people who have a predisposition to develop psychosis show symptoms at least a year sooner than non-smokers do.

Excess dopamine, scientists believe, is the reason behind this possible link. Dopamine is a chemical found within the brain that is responsible for helping transmit nerve signals. Moreover, scientists think that dopamine plays a part in schizophrenia development.

Of course, scientists will need to conduct more studies to learn more about this possible connection.

On this side of the pond, around 44 percent of Americans who have mental illness are smokers—that makes them roughly twice as likely to smoke. However, there is a silver lining. According to The Journal of the American Medical Association, those living with mental illnesses who smoke cigarettes are able to quit smoking easier than those without mental illness.

If you’re looking for a better alternative to smoking, we invite you to consider e-cigarettes. Here at EverSmoke, we offer a variety of e-cigarette starter kits and preloaded cartridges. USA’s Friendliest Public Vaping Cities!

vaping concept

As a vaper, many of you are at least a little concerned about some of the laws that may affect the future of e-smoking.  Certain places in this country welcome vapers with open arms, while other places practically enforce e-cigs prohibition.  It is becoming clear that some cities and states are friendlier than others when it comes to e-smoking.

If you plan on relocating to a particular city or vacationing there, you should know their restrictions regarding your vaping enjoyment in public.

E Cigarette News recently came up with a list of the friendliest states for public vaping.  Although these laws are ever-changing, this recap list is based on the latest information available.

  1. Denver, Colorado – If you’re looking to enjoy the beauty of Colorado while enjoying your e-cig, you are in luck in Denver – a very trendy town indeed that currently has over 100 vape shops.  Each restaurant and business owner is able to decide if they will allow e-smoking but fortunately most welcome vapers.

  2. Seattle, Washington – Currently, this city hosts 50 vape shops, as well as 17 bars and 21 restaurants that allow e-cig use indoors.  You also can enjoy e-smoking freely in parks and on sidewalks.  Seattle is considered a very vaper friendly town.

  3. Virginia Beach, Virginia – If you’re looking for a nice seaside local that is vaper friendly and has no bans on e-cigs, then you might consider paying a visit to Virginia Beach.  You can enjoy touring this town and relaxing without worrying about your e-smoking enjoyment.  So far, 15 restaurants and bars are available for you to vape “worry-free.”

  4. Las Vegas, Nevada – Although vaping has been banned in any restaurant or bar in Las Vegas that serves food, the casinos are still very vape friendly!

  5. Austin, Texas – Many of the clubs, bars and coffee shops are welcome the e-smoking crowd even though the city includes e-cigs in its no smoking ordinance.

  6. Tuscon, Arizona – There is a public smoking ban in Arizona but it does not include e-cigs.  Currently, the city has over 160 vape shops and lounges with the hopes of more to come.

E Cigarette News also provided a list of the top 25 most friendly vaping states.
