You just know smoking isn’t cool anymore when someone as iconic as Santa Claus is dropping his pipe! It is 2012 after all, and most celebrities these days are not really into tobacco. In fact, they are way more interested in vapor cigarettes.
Recently international headlines were made when the story of good old Saint Nick was retold by the author Pamela McColl. She made it her mission to rewrite the classic “T’was the Night Before Christmas” omitting it entirely of every line referencing Santa smoking. Considering how many millions of children look up to him, it makes very good sense to make him more appropriate for children and more in tune with modern culture. She self-published her book, and while hard copies have been for sale for the past few months, she has also been donating copies to hospitals and charities. For her cause, she even went so far as to include a “letter from Santa himself,” where the wise bearded one denounces smoking altogether as being passe.
Being in the electronic cigarette business, can’t say I disagree with him! With so many children admiring him, it’s much better to set a good example. Considering Santa Claus is quite the avid traveler, it would also make sense for him to be using vapor cigarettes anyway. Flying through the wintery sky, across the planet in a sleigh, there is just no way he would be able to keep a pipe or a cigarette lit during that journey. It’s a guarantee he would not be dropping ash, or leaving any lingering tobacco smoke smell in the homes he visits. While that is all speculation and hypothetical talk, electronic cigarettes and especially e-cigarette disposables are the smarter way to enjoy your vapor when traveling!
This retelling has definitely not gone without controversy. The American Literary Association was less than pleased with her efforts. Some Santa Claus purists have even gone so far as to wish death up Ms. McColl for her censoring. While that is a tad bit too extreme, as she is just exercising her personal literary creativity, while promoting a sound message of anti-smoking, she has happened to garner a great deal of positive acclaim as well! While we most likely will not know if Santa has chosen to use the smarter option in e-cigarettes, we sure hope he has. If Santa can quit smoking cigarettes, anyone can!
