How to Choose a Battery

Choosing an E-Cig BatterySo you’re sure you want to switch to vapor cigarettes from traditional, but you’re stuck on how to choose an e-cigarette battery. You’ve got choices: small, medium, and large; also known as Mini, Standard, and High-Capacity, and just like their incremental size would lead you to believe, different size means different capabilities.

Similar to AA or AAA batteries with a slight difference in size and shape, EverSmoke e-cig batteries are rechargeable lithium ion batteries. Typically charged with a USB cable, they also can be powered up with a Personal Charging Case, a wall adapter as well as a car adapter.

EverSmoke Mini E-Cigarette Battery

The Mini is, well, mini. In price, in power, charging time, and lasting time through charges, this battery gives you the whole experience in a bite-sized format. It goes from 160-175 puffs before needing to be charged. The expected lifespan is from 40,000 and 43,750 puffs. Sometimes a small size is exactly what you need, and it is the perfect battery for vapers who are on the go.

Standard E-Cigarette Battery

The standard size battery can be looked at as the middle ground. It is medium sized, has a great amount of power, can last between 200 and 250 puffs, and it has a nice moderate size about it. These take around 2 to 3 hours to charge up to full capacity, and the overall lifespan is about 50,000 to 62,500 puffs.

High-Capacity

When you need a high-capacity battery, this is the one for you. The larger the size, the higher the electrical charge rating, and the ability to have a battery that goes a bit longer is exactly what some people mean need. This battery costs slightly more then it’s more counterparts, but you get more overall. The High Capacity battery goes up to 350 puffs per charge, and the overall lifespan is typically around 87,500 puffs.

Different sizes accommodate different needs and preferences, so it is always our suggestion that you have more than one size to choose from, as well as more than one battery at your disposal. This will keep life very convenient and allow you to have a backup battery when one is charging. One of the biggest assets to being a vaper is always staying prepared, and knowing what these batteries offer individually gives you exactly the knowledge you need to choose!

Recommendations for Smokeless Cigarettes and Air Travel

airplane-on-abstract-screen

The popularity of smokeless cigarettes has reached a point where it is evident that the smoke-free nicotine delivery systems are here to stay. However, it does not mean that the controversies and arguments about the devices have stopped—new arguments are popping up frequently. The most recent controversy involves vaping on airplanes; however, the argument being made may not be the one you assume it is.

When smokeless cigarettes hit the market, there was some concern over whether a cabin full of people would suffer ill health effects from ‘second-hand vape’. The argument now has turned to concerns over fire safety. Last month, there was an incident where a small fire started after a passenger packed his smokeless cigarette in his checked luggage at Logan International Airport in Boston. This has prompted airport officials to ask federal officials to reclassify e-cigs as hazardous.

The Events

Passengers on a JetBlue flight to Buffalo, New York were evacuated from the aircraft when baggage handlers smelled smoke. A smoldering bag was removed from the baggage hold and extinguished. Luckily, the flight hadn’t actually taken off or the events could have been very different. After examining the remnants of the bag, the culprit seems to have been a smokeless cigarette—or more specifically, the device’s lithium-ion battery.

Lithium-ion batteries, which are found in everything from laptops to cell phones, have long been linked to being capable of catching fire. While the Massachusetts Port Authority may blame the smokeless cigarette for the incident, any lithium-ion battery that is activated inside a packed suitcase could easily overheat and catch fire. The incident has led many to suggest that smokeless cigarettes should be banned from airplanes; however, the better course of action would be to insist that e-cig components be disassembled packing in checked luggage.

TSA Guidelines for Flying with Smokeless cigarettes and E-liquid

The TSA doesn’t currently have restrictions on e-liquid, or e-cig products—this includes batteries, cartridges, and charging devices. However, any separate liquids will fall under the 3-1-1 carry-on rule.

While it is highly unlikely you’ll have any difficulties with the TSA concerning your smokeless cigarettes (and components), to be more precautionary, don’t declare them for inspection at the checkpoint. If an issue arises, explain that it’s your smokeless cigarette.

EverSmoke Batteries: The Technology Behind the Scenes

EVERSMOKE9EverSmoke batteries are pretty amazing. Like most other e-cigarette batteries on the market, EverSmoke batteries use lithium ion technology. They are constructed of lithium and carbon materials, and this makes them lightweight and ultra-powerful. Here’s a deeper look into the technology behind these batteries, how they work and what makes them so ideal for electronic smoking.

Lithium ion batteries were first released in 1997, they are used in all varieties of different devices including smart phones, other types of mobile phones, tablets, laptops, digital cameras, video game consoles, flashlights, power tools, hybrid vehicles, electric wheelchairs, model aircraft, and even the Mars Curiosity Rover. Amazing right?

Unlike older battery models that worked on electronic charges using liquid solvents, lithium ion batteries work with solid polymer composite. This enables the electrodes and separators which are responsible for generating the charge to be limited to one another. This enables the battery to be encased within a flexible casing, as opposed to a metal casing, enabling them to be shaped specifically for certain devices creating an individualized fit. This equates to greater versatility all around.

Here are some of the many benefits lithium ion batteries bring to the world of electronics:

  • Lithium ion batteries are very lightweight batteries.
  • Lithium is a highly reactive element, and this allows lithium ion batteries to hold a lot more stored energy.
  • They hold battery charges much longer per month than older style batteries. Lithium ion batteries lose only about 5% of their charge each month compared to the much higher rate of 20% of loss for older types of batteries.
  • Lithium ion batteries do not need to be fully discharged before recharging.
  • Lithium ion batteries are not only strong, but they are exceptionally durable. They can handle hundreds of charging cycles in their lifetime.

As excellent as lithium ion batteries are, they do come with a few pitfalls unfortunately:

  • Lithium ion batteries begin to degrade once they leave the factory.
  • They are extremely sensitive to heat and exposure can cause them to degenerate very quickly.
  • Continually completely discharging lithium ion batteries can destroy them
  • They are more expensive batteries due to the technology involved.

Lithium ion batteries are the power behind electronic cigarettes, and you can surely see why. This amazing technology allows smokers to have a device that enables them the same pleasure without smoke tobacco and tar, with quality, durability and convenience. Innovation is incredible, isn’t it?!

E-Cig Batteries: Technologically Amazing, Technically Awesome

eversmokeInHandE-cigarettes are powered by batteries, and the majority of these are lithium ion, meaning they are made of lithium and carbon. Considered by many to be the best for their powerful output and lightweight construction, they are the lifeblood and brainpower behind even the most advanced electronic cigarettes.

In addition to being a source of power, e-cigarette batteries contribute a lot of the overall experience of vaping. They are typically the main component of the e-cigarette, meaning the body of the device it usually the battery itself. They come in two different switch styles, Manual (turns on with a switch) and Automatic (no switch, automatic turn-on), and both e-cig styles offer benefits to the user depending on what they want in an e-cig battery.

Lithium ion batteries have not been in existence a tremendously long time; they were first introduced to the market in 1997. A more modern type of battery, unlike older styles which required a metal case, lithium ion batteries can be housed in more flexible casings, enabling them to fit specific devices.

Lithium ion batteries are loaded with benefits, and very few downfalls, which is another reason they are awesome for e-cigarettes. They can hold a charge for a very long time, they boast a light weight, they are very powerful holding a great amount of stored energy, and they can handle hundreds of charging and discharging cycles.

As for negatives, there are a few you have to contend with when using lithium ion e-cigarette batteries. For starters, they have a shelf life; they literally begin degrading once they exit the factory, whether they are used or not. You can expect them to last between two and three years however, so even though they do not last forever, they will last a while. Other negatives include the fact that they are typically more expensive batteries, and they have a sensitivity to heat which can be their demise.

If you’re stumped on what e-cigarette battery switch style to go with, have a look at our article on the subject.

When it comes to vaping, users have many choices with their lithium ion e-cig batteries, from switch style to color, size, and brand. They are the best types of batteries for vaping and their many benefits outweigh the few negatives: powerful, long lasting, and very versatile make them the top choice of power when it comes to e-cigarettes.

The Importance of Protecting E-Cig Batteries from Heat

hot-summer-rays-of-the-sun

Sometimes it can feel like you need advanced degree to keep our phones, P.D.A.’s and laptops working. According to findings by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), lithium-ion batteries perform at their best if kept at temperatures between 14°F and 86°F. Moreover, battery experts say that the number one cause of battery problems is too much heat. Batteries that get too warm drain faster than they normally would. Therefore, you should think of electronics as if they were a baby or a dog—if it’s hot outside, don’t leave it in the car.

Batteries are also affected by humidity and other weather extremes— they can bulge, bubble, melt, damage your device, smoke, and in (very) extreme cases, even blow-up. Some examples of areas to avoid bringing lithium-ion batteries are in a non-temperature controlled room, in a closed bathroom with the shower on, in a closed car on a hot day, or in a steam-room or a sauna.

The necessity of keeping your lithium ion battery cool

Standard Li-ion battery chemistry depends on electrolytes that react with a residual moisture to create hydrofluoric acid, the most corrosive of all chemical compounds. The speed of this process doubles with every increase in temperature of 10 degrees Celsius—resulting in a reduced calendar and cycle life. Moreover, not only does this mean that there is a run-time degrade with age, but it means that each subsequent charge discharge further reduces it.

This damage occurs until the battery just doesn’t last long enough between charges. In addition, the damage created by the increase in temperature is exacerbated the more you use your battery – therefore, the more power your device needs or the faster you charge it, the hotter the battery gets.

Electronic cigarettes provide smokers a smoke free alternative nicotine delivery method. Batteries: What You Need to Know & Which Style Will Work for You

accessories_long_batteryWith so many different e-cigarette batteries out there, do you ever wonder which type will suit you?

EverSmoke offers one basic style, with several different options, making it a very versatile, easy to use, and easy to please model. Available in different sizes and switch modes, you really have your way with this one. Here is a look at e-cigarette batteries, and a little info to help you choose if you are unsure about what you’re looking for.

Lithium-Ion

All EverSmoke batteries are made with the same SuperMax technology. They are lithium-ion, which makes them unbelievably durable, able to last a long time, and they have the capacity to produce excellent amounts of vapor.

Switches

EverSmoke offers two different options for switch modes: Manual or Automatic batteries. Manual batteries have a switch, or button that needs to be pressed during usage, activating the process. These batteries are known to produce a larger quantity of vapor than Automatic batteries, however the battery does not last as long. If you prefer a battery that automatically starts up once you puff on it, and you want it to have longer life, the Automatic switch style is for you. Two options offering two methods; if you aren’t sure which you want, we suggest trying each of them to experience how they work for yourself.

Sizes

Two battery sizes are available: Standard and High Capacity. Both are great to have in your personal selection, and having two gives you options to choose between. Sometimes you may prefer a larger or smaller battery, and some people find, after trying both styles, that they prefer one over the other. Like everything else with electronic cigarettes, it all comes down to trying and finding out what works for you.

Colors

Batteries are available in three different colors, and while this feature has nothing to do with performance, style definitely counts for something! Black, white, and stainless steel are the choices, and you are free to pick the color or colors you fancy. White is the obvious choice if you want your e-cig to look like a traditional cigarette; black is cool and sleek; and go with steel if you want a more modern, pen-like look.

While the e-cigarette market it filled with options and many different types of products and batteries, we are confident EverSmoke makes the most durable, highest performing options in this category. Boosting Your E-Cig Battery Life

250-250-eversmoke-battery-ecig-batteriesWhen it comes to electronic cigarette batteries, you may be wondering what you can do to keep yours running as powerfully as possible, for as long as possible. Here are some ways to improve your e-cig batteries’ performance and life so that you can get the most out of them. While many people complain about e-cigarette batteries not lasting very long, we encourage you to take some action to keep things running smoothly!

-Clean the Battery. E-cigarette batteries get subjected to dirt and foreign debris because they are handled with the hands, and when anything is used regularly, it gets exposed. Small liquid leaks, storing the battery in your pocket upside down, and normal, everyday dirt can get in and slowly diminish performance. What you can do is tidy things up a bit. Cleaning your electronic cigarette doesn’t have to be difficult, however, you should know the basics: Once a week or so, take your e-cigarette apart, and wipe down all parts with a damp cloth. If you feel inspired, or if there is a significant amount of visible filth, use an old toothbrush to really scrub the junk out. This allows the parts to connect more consistently, and ensures dirt will not be getting in the way of your enjoyment.

-Use the Battery. It was designed for use, so use it! Some people want to preserve their batteries, and attempt to use them as infrequently as possible, but that’s not what they were designed for. Using them enables them to actually work, and they need that constant running to maintain good performance.

-Charge E-Cig Batteries Properly. Yes there are actually wrong ways to charge your batteries! You don’t want to wait till you’re down to the 0 level. The ideal time to charge a battery is when it is at 50% or higher because this creates less stress on the battery to power it back up to full capacity. When drained to nearly no power, it takes more effort and energy out of the battery to recover, and this overtime, contributes to a loss of performance.

-Store Your Batteries Right. Our storage cases were designed with the intent of storing your EverSmoke e-cigarette batteries, so we suggest using them. A case is the ideal place to hold your batteries because they were made to protect, and to keep your batteries safe. Just stashing a battery in your pocket is one of the worst things you can do, so keep it safe in a case, as well as in a cool, dry place.

So that sums it up! Taking care of your electronic cigarette batteries doesn’t have to take an exaggerated amount of time, nor does it have to be complicated. Following these simple steps can allow you to use your battery for a very long time, without losing any of the power and performance you want. E-cigarettes are an investment; protect them!

Powering the Vaping World

Information about lithium-ion batteries and their usage in today’s techy world

In 1997, developers released a new battery that rather than using a liquid solvent to conduct a charge (like the nickel-metal hydride battery (NiMH), they used a solid polymer composite instead.

The Workings of Lithium-ion Batteries

In addition to using solid polymer composite, the electrodes and separators that generate the charge in a lithium-ion battery are laminated to each other. This allows for a flexible wrapping casing rather than a typical metal casing.

For this reason, shaping lithium-ion batteries to specific devices is easy, which eliminates the need for one size-fits all battery.

What Lithium-ion Batteries Power

Pretty much all of the devices we use today use lithium-ion batteries for a power source—including (but not limited to):

  • Portable devices
    • For example: mobile and smartphones, laptops and tablets, digital cameras and camcorders, handheld game consoles and flashlights and most e-cigarettes on the market (including EverSmoke)

Spring Cleaning! – Taking Care of Your Electronic Cigarette

branch of a blossoming tree

Spring has sprung again!  This means the weather is getting warmer (hopefully), beautiful flowers are beginning to bloom and of course, the annoying pollen that comes along with the beauty of the season.  However, it also means it is time to get that check list out of items to clean!

Closets, cupboards, cabinets may only need the once a year spring cleaning but your electronic cigarette needs a cleaning on a regular basis.

If you have owned one a while and have yet to clean it, spring is a good time to start!  Your Eversmoke electronic cigarette has hopefully been a great investment for you so make it a priority to care of it properly.  It will not only help to extend the life of your product but can make your vaping experience even more satisfying.

Below are suggestions and guidelines for proper cleaning of your Eversmoke electronic cigarette. (However, always check your manual of your particular device for exactly cleaning instructions)

The Battery

  • Residue and dirt can often get stuck in between where the cartridge and battery connect.  It is suggested that, at least once a week, you take a lightly dampened cotton swab and clean this area where the residue collects.
  • Some people have used alcohol to clean but definitely check your manual before doing that. It is very important to clean the residue so that there is a proper connection between the battery and cartridge
  • Proper cleaning of your battery can mean better function, more charges and a longer lasting battery.

The Cartridge (Cartomizer)

  • Most newer model electronic cigarettes are now made up of two parts, the battery and the cartridge or cartomizer (e.g. where the atomizer, or heating element, is built into the cartridge).
  • The cartridge and atomizer used to be sold separately and would need cleaned separately but most are now combined.
  • Eversmoke offers disposable cartridges where it is not necessary to clean since it will be thrown away.
  • Eversmoke provides prefilled cartridges which means less mess and spills.
  • However, you may have a different type of model and you need to make sure that you clean the cartridge regularly where juices may have spilled and are possibly “caked” on to the cartridge.
  • You can take a small toothpick and gently break off the caked on material if the cloth will not work.

Bottom line, clean and take care of your electronic cigarette.  It will pay off for you! More TLC generally means a longer lasting electronic cigarette as well as better quality vaping.
