E-Cig Friendly Airports

EuropeAirportTraveling with e-cigarettes is great, and certainly better than trying to do so with traditional cigarettes. However things can get tricky if you think every location stands by the same rules and perspective on electronic cigarettes. Some airports are fine with electronic alternatives, and others have strict policies that regard them as no different than tobacco cigarettes.

State and local laws regarding e-cigarettes are one thing, and traveling with them is another. Currently, you cannot use them in the airplane during any commercial flight, but certain airports are more lenient.

If you aren’t aware before you go, you could be in for a surprise when you at the airport expecting to be able to vape as you please. Here is a look at the different airports that are e-cigarette friendly, and those that are not.

The following is a list of the American airports that currently ban e-cigarettes, and require all users to smoke them, along with traditional tobacco cigarettes, in areas designated for smoking:

• Boston Logan International Airport
• Chicago Midway International Airport
• Chicago O’Hare International Airport
• Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport
• Denver International Airport
• Detroit Metropolitan Airport
• George Bush Intercontinental Airport
• Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport
• Los Angeles International Airport
• Orlando International Airport
• Philadelphia International Airport
• San Francisco International Airport
• Seattle-Tacoma International Airport

And the following is a list of the airports that do allow e-cigarettes to be used in their terminals:

• Charlotte Douglas International Airport
• Dulles International Airport
• McCarran International Airport (Las Vegas)
• Miami International Airport
• Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport
• Ronald Reagan Washington International Airport
• Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport
• Tampa International Airport

As you may have noticed, none of the airports that serve the New York City area have been included on either list. They are, in any case, banned from use in any NYC airport terminal, and just to further this notion, with the Clean Air Act recently signed, using electronic cigarettes indoors in any public building in New York city is not allowed.

While traveling with electronic cigarettes is definitely the better option, especially compared to tobacco cigarettes, it’s quite important to know what you’re facing before you go! As with any trip, it’s always best to be as prepared as possible before you embark.
